Market loves to crash in October

Largest ever 1 day percentage loss for the Dow Jones Industrial Average was October 19th 1987. The Black Monday  when Dow Jones lost 22.61%.

2nd worst also happened in October, the 28th year 1929 posting a 12.82% loss.

Two more losses of more than 10%, one on December 18th 1899 and the other one on October 29th 1929 […]

McClellan Summation Index highest since May 2013

McClellan Summation Index  is one of my favorite indicators when trying to find bottoms.

Notice the areas shaded in green on the chart, very good accuracy.


It is not as useful in signalizing tops though but current read of 1130 caught my attention.

Charting ex-dividend days

Got an interesting question from a subscriber today.

Vereit ( VER ) is trading at 8.73, that price is quoted both on stockcharts.com and finviz.com yet charts are different.

Stockcharts displays +0.55%.

Finviz has the same price but down 1.08%.

How can it be? It is due to stock going ex-dividend today.

Dividend is $0.1375 per share.
